The Easily Understandable Truth

This was just posted to a friends LiveJournal and I think this is so true.

So, what do you think?

#11 Week 5 LibraryThing

Rightio, 200 books isn't enough space, really. If I'm to use this I'll have to buy an account. Hmmm. Anyway I had a look, went through the tutorial and here is my LibraryThing catalog. I've been meaning to set up a catalog of what I have anyway, so this might be the best one. Just have to work out how I can go through my shelves without missing some as they get picked over by my friends alot.

#10 Week 5 Generators take 2

Rightio, here is the mosaic I made using the FlickrMosaic website.

Myspace, news feeds and the internet

So, on Monday there was the Annual Zombie walk. Some of my friends were there and afterwards there are always lots of pictures. Sadly one of the links to the photo's was the actual offical organisers website, which is a Myspace page. So at midnight Tuesday I'm creating a Myspace account just to look at the photos. Blarg. I now have so many things to log into to read sleep is a luxury. I wonder if I could find a job getting paid piles of dosh just for doing that... :)

Anyway, fun things you find on the internet. I've been looking at sites mentioned in Boingboing which is all the fault of a friend in LiveJournal including this delightful one Talkingweb which features photos of a show of ouija boards and ouija-inspired work by more than a dozen Pop Surrealist artists.

And for those who like Red vs Blue, an amusing look at the Internet.

#10 Week 5 generators

Today during my lunch break I had a look through the generators links off the 2.0 information. I also did some googling but didn't really find any that I particularly liked. I ended up playing around on the Flickr Mosaic programme, made up a mosaic, saved it and went to upload it onto my Flickr acount but the work settings don't seem to like me trying to upload. I've copied it to my memory stick and will upload it when I get home.

I uploaded some more images onto Flickr last night after yesterday's Armageddon. The facepainting booth painted up my face like a zombie, which was fun. I also was the photographer for the cosplay entrants so a pile of them are on my account until I have time to transfer them over to the local cosplay group's photo group.

#9 Week 4 Library themed blogfeeds

I had a look at Feedster and didn't like that one. I ended up going through Google looking for "children picture book" librarian reviews as a search and ended up on About.com in the children book section. I've added 3 of their feeds to do with that.

I then had a look at Technorati using children picture book reviews and found:
the hidden side of a leaf (0) (0)
Jen Robinson's Book Page (0) (0)
which I've added as well.

Interesting that the last posting on Hidden side of a leaf is about "And Tango Makes Three". This is a lovely picture book, with the story based on a true event about 2 male penguins in the Central Zoo who make a nest together. One of the zoo keepers notices and they end up giving the pair an egg, which they raise. Basically a gay couple raising a child, using animals instead of people. It has beautiful pictures, it's very nicely done, it's not "in your face gay issues" and it's a great way to bring up the issue with kids in a not threatening way.

#8 Week 4 Bloglines

So, I watched the CNET clip, went through a few of the recommended resources. I've created a Bloglines account http://www.bloglines.com/public/Karens.Auckland.Calendar

And here is a list of the Feeds I added today. Mostly gaming ones, one I usually read on a weekly basis. Sadly alot of my favourites don't have an RSS feed so I can't combine them all together.

ACL Learning 2.0 (0) (0)

Special Comic Day Friday 19th October

This coming Friday from 2pm until 7pm there are heaps of cool comic things happening at the Auckland City Library.

2pm to 5pm Comic Fest Floor 2. Come meet local artists and see what they have on offer.

5pm to 6pm movie screening "The Comic Show"

6pm to 7pm Meet Dylan Horrocks, local cartoonist, who will be giving a talk. And then Johnny Angel, creator of Afi, the first Samoan superhero will be finishing off the evening.

For more details check out the library website here http://www.aucklandcitylibraries.com/exploreyourcommunity/events/acomicsevening

King of Cards will be there and there are spot prizes throughout the event.

Week 3 Flickr stuff

I have a Flickr account, mainly for viewing friends photo's. I've set up some photo's on it for the Activity 5. Check them out here http://www.flickr.com/photos/menollys-pics/ These are me in the Wearable Arts competition.

For #6 I had a look at the mashup links mentioned on the 2.0 activity, and had a play with the mozaic ones.

For activity #7 it says to mention anything technology related. Hmm, some comments. Being able to take pictures of weird things, and post them on the net to find out what they are, is really useful. And being able to send out an email with a notice about a cool event is way cheaper than having to ring or txt everyone to tell them about it.
