Auckland Charity Event: Can't Stop the Serenity

Hi all,

For the last two years Serenity/Firefly and Joss Whedon fans around the world have been gathering around the 23rd of June (birthday for Joss) to celebrate Serenity/Firefly and raise funds and the profile of a charity called Equality Now. In 2006 we raised over $50,000US. In 2007 we raised over $1000,000US. Check out the main website http://cantstoptheserenity.com/ for what it's all about.

Most of the events run around the world involved a screening of the movie, and some involve a Shindig. Auckland is hosting a Shindig on Saturday the 5th of July for our contribution for this awesome world-wide event.

The Shindig is an evening of gaming, viewing, music, stalls, food and fun. There will be a gambling area, with Serenity Munchkin and Tall Cards. A special viewing area where we will be screening the fan movie Done the Impossible, Mosquito and a number of other special Serenity and Firefly clips. There will be costume prizes throughout the evening, so come along dressed up. A range of fan items for sale, on auction and raffled during the night. Some drinks and nibbles available, and we hope to have some dancing later in the evening.

At 7pm there will be a pub quiz for teams of 3. Catagories include Serenity and Firefly, as well as a range of Scifi and Fantasy topics. Please pre-register your team before the event.

Costs:
Bronze ticket = $5 (includes nibbles and 1 free raffle ticket)
Silver ticket = $10 (includes nibbles, 2 non-alcoholic drinks and 1 free raffle ticket)
Gold ticket = $20 (includes nibbles, unlimited non-alcoholic drinks and 2 free raffle tickets)

All profit from this event will go to Equality Now.

All welcome, please pass this on to everyone you think might be interested.
